Nitron stepped up to the pinnacle of
motorsport today as they measured up their first Formula One
car. The car was a Benetton B194, as raced by a certain M
Schumacher during the 1994 season. In fact the very chassis
holds the record for the most wins in an F1 season, this
contributing to its estimated £500,000 value.
Fast-forward to 2009, and the car is competing in the EuroBOSS
series, this features F1 cars no newer than 2005, plus Indycars,
Champ Cars, F3000 cars and similar. Just last weekend the car
obliterated the field at Brands Hatch driven by Phil Keen,
lapping the Indy Circuit in a stunning 40.216 seconds. But there
is far more potential in the car. Nitron had dyno tested several
sets of the current dampers to attempt to find a good matching
set, but despite having been serviced they were far from ideal.
So Nitron have been asked to supply a set of dampers by Moore
Racing who run the car.
Having studied the car at their Oxfordshire premises for the
day, Nitron intend to fit a set of their top spec NTF Pro
Formula shocks. These 3-way adjustable units will be very
similar to those fitted to today's Formula 3 cars, and will be
considerably more compact and lightweight than the WP units
currently on the car.
